Description

Will be part of a global team of applications engineers located in China, Denmark, India, Taiwan and U.S. to focus on embedded software solutions for the telecommunication market as well as turnkey software solutions and software modules / SDK’s for SME switching & routing applications.

 

Accountable for the following but not limited to:

·         Development and architecture (including customizations) of software solutions/ modules / protocols with complexity dependent on the person’s skills.

·         Customizations based on Vitesse turnkey software solutions.

·         Customer software testing to include:

o        SQA planning

o        SQA lead

o        Software unit testing

o        Software integration testing

·         Assisting customers with the implementation of the Vitesse software.

·         Handling customer support software issues through emails, conference calls and onsite meetings.

·         Interacting with chip design teams and other Vitesse software teams.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         Requires 3+ years of software experience.  Knowledge within network protocols especially Ethernet TCP/IP and a good understanding of QoS and security.

·         Software-programming skills in one or more of the following areas: C/C++ (required), C#, Java, TCL, Perl.

·         Processor and OS knowledge (preferences are ARM9, MIPS, PPC, eCos, Linux, and VxWorks as well as 8051)

·         Protocol knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Virtual LAN, Spanning Tree, LACP, 802.1X, IGMP, Telnet, FTP, TFTP, NAT, RIP, OSPF, IPMC, IGMP, MLD, SNMP, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DOS attack, VPN, IpSec, PPTP, L2TP, SSL, HTTP, HTTPS, and management protocols.

·         Must possess good communication skills in English.  Excellent documentation and design specification writing skills.

·         Must be precise and efficient in the daily work.

·         Be able to work in a challenging working environment that promotes teamwork, creativity and professional development.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with Carrier/telecommunication products.

·         Experience with Telecom Carrier services/protocols such as PB, PBB, PBB-TE, MPLS-TE, OAM, Protection switching, IEEE802.3ah, Y.1731, SyncE SSM, IEEE1588 PTP, TR069 management is a big plus.

·         Experience with L2/L3 Enterprise switch products.

·         Experience with routing products.

 

Requires a BSEE with 3+ years directly related experience in the industry.  MSEE preferred.
