FlexEQ™ EDC & Equalization IC Solutions

Vitesse's FlexEQ is a flexible, best-in-class adaptive equalization technology that enables communications signals to travel farther, faster, and error free in low cost physical media.

Devices offering equalization and EDC are essential to enabling a growing number of 10 Gbps copper and fiber link applications across Enterprise, Metro, and Core networks, including backplanes, line cards, and optical modules. Without it, pulse broadening and signal degradation can result, thus limiting the ability to transmit 10 Gbps signals cleanly across long or bandwidth-limited fiber or copper channels without the use of expensive transmitters or receivers.

FlexEQ technology reduces the cost of 10 Gbps transmission and enables bandwidth upgrades on existing fibers and backplanes. For optical applications, the technology works well in both Multi-mode (MMF) and Single-mode (SMF) fiber applications, supports present link distances while using lower cost opticals, and enables longer link distances with and without Forward Error Correction (FEC).

Backplanes

Vitesse's FlexEQ technology is ideal for solving difficult data-rate upgrades for legacy backplanes, as well as for designing new 10GBASE-KR backplanes. The FlexEQ technology has been validated on numerous legacy backplanes for multiple data rates. View Image »

SFP+ Line Cards

Vitesse's EDC technology is ideally suited to enable this migration by driving and receiving high-speed signals on line cards through SFP+ optical modules supporting all SFP+ reach applications for 10 GE networks, including 10GBASE-SR/-LRM (multi-mode fiber), 10GBASE-LR (single-mode fiber), and SFP+ Direct Attach. 10 Gbps Optical Modules

VScope™ and FlexEQ™

The combination of Vitesse's FlexEQ™ and VScope™ technologies provides, for the first time: a remote diagnostic and monitoring capability allowing carriers and data center managers to verify signal integrity of the optical link thus maximizing network up time as well as a solution for system engineers wanting faster development cycles with real-time link diagnostics, and a more accurate view of the live waveform from within the transceiver IC.
