The trend to Carrier and Converged Ethernet, where multiple services and networks are converged on a common Ethernet Networking infrastructure, is widely expected to accelerate in the next few years. Vitesse specializes in delivering new Ethernet-based services over a variety of network transport technologies such as native Ethernet, SONET/SDH, as well as WDM/OTN. Vitesse is uniquely positioned to enable Carrier OEMs and their service provider customers to deliver Ethernet-based services globally all over their networks, thus preserving their investment in their installed base.
Vitesse products support the transition from 10/100-Megabit Ethernet desktops and network attachments to Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet with highly integrated, low-power designs. We also specialize in supporting the convergence of multiple enterprise networks for data, voice, storage, and video onto a common, Ethernet-based networking infrastructure.
In both these markets, and in some closely adjacent markets, Vitesse develops products to address high-speed physical layer communication and signal integrity speeds over copper traces on boards, copper cables, as well as multi-mode and single mode fiber. These signal integrity issues are expected to gain more importance as Carrier and Enterprise Networking equipment manufacturers begin scaling line card and systems capacity to higher speeds.
Vitesse enables this transition to higher speeds with a wide variety of products, many of which find applications in multiple types of communications equipment across all our focus markets.
